Reports said that the 87 counties will only have one week to recount the ballots. Mark Dayton hopes the recount will confirm his nearly 8,800-vote lead against Republican Tom Emmer.

On December 8, 2010, the State Canvassing Board will review the challenged ballots. Meanwhile, five board members have until December 14, 2010 to certify the results of the recount.

International news sites said that the next governor is supposed to take office on January 3, 2011. However, there is a chance that the incumbent GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty could be pressed into longer service if the governor’s race will not be resolved by then.
