Ming Ming, the giant and oldest panda in the world reportedly died in Xiangjiang Wild Animal World safari park in China. It was confirmed in a statement by the China Panda Protection Centre in Sichuan.

Initial information has been reported by a Chinese tabloid The Global Times which said that the official cause of death of Ming Ming is due to old age.

According to reports, blood was found on the giant panda’s urine and waste on May 2. Medical experts tried to treat her and determine the cause, but Ming Ming died on May 7.

Medical experts said that Ming Ming‘s organs had deteriorated as a result of old age, leading to kidney failure, international news reported.

Meanwhile, Ming Ming‘s death was only reported in local media on Tuesday, May 17, 2011.

The 34-year-old Ming Ming was sent to Xiangjiang Wild Animal World in Panyu, Guangdong Province on March 31, 1998 after being rescued in Pingwu county in Sichuan Province in 1977.
