According to a press release at AmericanMustacheInstitute.org, they are supporting the STACHE Act which the group claim would provide a $250 annual tax deduction for mustache grooming supplies expenses.

As noted in the report, there are two ways that the public can support the said act; which one of them is by adding a past presidential mustache to their Facebook profile photo, with the online campaign posted at StacheAct.com that will lead to their official Facebook campaign page.

In addition, the group is also inviting all US taxpayers to join the physical march of one million mustached Americans, from the U.S. Capitol to the White House this coming April 1, or April Fools Day.

John Yeutter, a tax professor at Northeastern State University who wrote the Stache Act, was joined by AMI chairman Aaron Perlut in a press conference on Monday announcing the “Million Mustache March” campaign.

“According to AMI science, we’ve increased mustache growth and thus good looks by 38 percent in this country. But those good looks came at a cost in the form of American-made facial grooming products such as beard and mustache trimmers, facial hair dyes…” Perlut was quoted in the press conference via ABC News.

“It is clear that mustache maintenance costs qualify and should be considered a deductible expense related to the production of income underneath Internal Revenue Service Code Section 212, and, hence, the Million Mustache March.” Perlut added.

Meanwhile, the Facebook online campaign is also being supported by H&R Block to make donations to Millions From One, which provides clean drinking water to those in need, for those who will join in either the Million Mustache March or even AMI‘s Facebook campaign.

“We’re very serious that Americans should never settle for less when it comes to getting the tax deductions they’re entitled to,” Scott Gulbransen of H&R Block was quoted in the press release.

“That’s why we are supporting the American Mustache Institute‘s STACHE Act movement by making charitable contributions to Millions From One for every participant in the campaign.” Gulbransen added.
