According to TMZ on Wednesday night, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) sources confirmed to them that they received a 911 call from Miley Cyrus‘s house and immediately responded, but the cops found out nothing unusual and that they could have been tricked by a prank call known as “swatting“.
As noted in the report, the call was made at around 6:50 p.m. (local time), and the caller apparently described the incident as a home invasion. But when the police arrived, the house was quiet and no one was there, and they found no signs of crime.
Apparently, swatting is being referred to as an act when someone makes a prank call to an emergency service such as a 911, and the name was derived from SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), with authorities noting that the prank caller, once identified, could be arrested and may face charges.
As of this writing, there has been no official statement from Miley Cyrus or from her rep and the case is still under thorough investigation by the local authorities.
