Five people, including the driver of the car, were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

It was reported that Metrolink has about 20 passengers at the time of the crash. All Metrolink passengers were transferred to a bus.

St. Louis Police are now investigating the incident to determine why the vehicle was on the tracks of the Metrolink train. Metrolink officials clarified that the accident will not hamper their train service. This is to dispel earlier reports that the MetroLink crash will cause the closure of service between the Civic Center station and West End station until early Sunday.

According to the Metrolink, Southern California’s Commuter Train Service, website:

Metrolink is a premier regional rail system, including commuter and other passenger services, linking communities to employment and activity centers.  Metrolink provides reliable transportation and mobility for the region, leading toward more livable communities.
