Mazlan Othman denies being appointed by United Nations (UN) for Alien Ambassador, in contrast with the spreading news about it.

As published in Guardian a few hours ago, Mazlan Othman sent an email saying, “It sounds really cool but I have to deny it.”

This is after a widely spread news is saying that UN has appointed her to act as Earth‘s first contact for any aliens from outer space or ET (Extra-terrestrial) that may come to visit us.

Also according to the spreading news, ‘Othman is due to tell a Royal Society conference that as the detection of extraterrestrial life is more likely than ever, the UN needs to be ready to coordinate humanity’s response’.

Othman, a 58-year old Malaysian astrophysicist is currently the head of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA).

As she apparently said in a recent talk to fellow scientists, “The continued search for extra-terrestrial communication, by several entities, sustains the hope that some day human kind will received signals from extra-terrestrials”.

“When we do, we should have in place a coordinated response that takes into account all the sensitivities related to the subject. The UN is a ready-made mechanism for such coordination.” Othman added, according to reports.

Meanwhile, Professor Richard Crowther, who is an expert in space law at the UK space agency and leads delegations to the UN reportedly said, “Othman is absolutely the nearest thing we have to a ‘take me to your leader’ person”.
