Martha Stewart launches “Martha & Friends” website, teaches crafts to kids online

Lifestyle expert Martha Stewart launched the “Martha & Friends” website on Friday, July 1, 2011, which aims to teach kids online about crafting and being creative.

According to a press release published online that day, Martha Stewart launched the website Marthaandfriends.com, a partnership of AOL and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia (MSLO).

The “Martha & Friends” website will air episodes once every two weeks via AOL Kids, with a total of 26 original short-form videos, teaching children online about crafting, problem solving and cooking.

“Kids are extraordinarily imaginative and we are so glad to be part of a project that encourages, celebrates and rewards their innate creativity and curiosity,” Martha Stewart was quoted on the press release.

“Ever since I was a little girl I’ve had a passion for crafting and cooking and my hope is that this series will inspire a whole new generation of do-it-yourselfers.” Stewart added, who is also the MSLO founder.

Incidentally, Stewart, 69, will also be featured at Marthaandfriends.com but as an animated 10-year old girl, and will be joined by her friends and two dogs namely Francesca and Sharkey.

Meanwhile, Hallmark Channel was said to be airing a 30-minute “July 4th” special on July 3rd at 9:00 a.m. (ET) entitled “Martha’s Fourth“, where Martha and her friends will join her parents in a vacation.

On that episode, she and her friends to help raise money to fund the annual town celebration particularly the fireworks event which was canceled last year due to lack of funds.
