Mark Wahlberg is set to portray the starring role on the movie adaptation of video game ‘Uncharted’, as he confirmed the news in an exclusive interview with MTV recently.

‘Uncharted’, a highly-acclaimed PS3 video game series and an ‘Indiana Jones’ kind of concept, will have a movie adaptation, as ‘The Fighter’ film director David O. Russell also confirmed to MTV earlier.

Back in 2007, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was launched to the video game world, as well as its sequel, Uncharted 2: Among the Thieves.

David is one of the best writer/directors I’ve ever worked with,” Mark Wahlberg told MTV.

“The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we’ll be making that movie this summer.” The actor added, as he will play the role of treasure-hunter Nathan Drake in the said film.

Mark Wahlberg, who worked with Russel in the 1999 film ‘Three Kings’ also said in the interview that the latter is currently having talks with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci, who may later play Drake’s father and uncle respectively in the said film.

Incidentally, Mark Wahlberg also stars in the film The Fighter which is scheduled to be released on December 10, 2010.
