Mark Wahlberg role in Transformer 4 movie confirmed, director Michael Bay announces

Mark Wahlberg‘s role in the upcoming movie Transformers 4 will pursue, as confirmed by film director Michael Bay on his official website on Thursday, November 8, 2012. This is two weeks after Bay denied the ‘Mark Wahlberg Transformers 4 role’ rumors. He has directed the first three Transformers films.

According to a post at MichaelBay.com that day, Michael Bay has officially included Mark Wahlberg in the cast of Transformers 4, which has a release date on June 27, 2014, along with the logos of Transformers and ‘Pain and Gain‘, the last movie they worked together, to be shown on April 26, 2013.

Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on ‘Pain and Gain‘ and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers‘ legacy.” Michael Bay was quoted in the report, who will direct the fourth movie of the Transformers.

As noted in the report, the filming of Transformers 4 will start next spring and will be produced by Don Murphy, Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, with Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay, Brian Goldner, and Mark Vahradian, as executive producers; and to be distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Meanwhile, the first Transformers movie, which was released in July 2007 in North America, was a huge box office success, reportedly making more than $700 million worldwide. Its sequel, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, released on June 24, 2009 earned more and grossed more than $835 million worldwide.

On the other hand, the third installment, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, which was released on June 29, 2011, was even a bigger box-office hit than the first two films. It grossed more than $1.1 billion worldwide, and became the 5th highest grossing film of all time, resulting to over $2.6 billion worldwide for the entire franchise.
