As noted at US Weekly on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, Mariah Carey started her weight loss program in July, nearly 3 months after giving birth to her twins, Moroccan and Monroe.

According to the report, the 42-year old diva consulted a nutritionist and had a workout plan from Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig), sticking to a 1,500-calorie-a-day menu and a thrice-a-week physical workout.

The “Fly Like a Bird” singer told US Weekly, where she is the cover on its latest issue showing her flat stomach, that she lost 30 pounds in the first three months after giving birth last April 30.

Incidentally, Mariah Carey also appeared at OWN’s “The Rosie Show” last Tuesday and shared with talk show host Rosie O’Donnell her weight loss adventure during the last six months.

“The first week, I lost 40 lbs. … of just water. It was just water, initially. When I started with the program, I lost at least 30 lbs. of weight that needed to be lost.” Carey was quoted telling to O’Donnell.

“Oh, hey, look at me and my weight loss, I’m fantastic.’ It’s really health. Like I said, I learned it when I became helpless and felt so vulnerable like never before in my life.” She added, noting that 90 percent is strict diet since exercise was not a good option for someone like her who underwent C-section.

Instead of weighing herself, Mariah Carey said she always check on her dresses she wore three years ago and wonder if they still fit, with the singer notably lost 70 lbs in the span of 6 months only.
