MANILA, Philippines – Eight division champion Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao is set to announce his next bout during the celebration of his 32nd birthday on Friday, December 17, 2010 in General Santos City (GenSan). According to international sports sites, Pacquiao‘s next fight is scheduled on May 7, 2011.

There are three notable boxers who are lined up to face Pacquiao and they include former welterweight champion Shane Mosley, WBO and World Boxing Association (WBA) lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, and WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto. Pacquiao is currently the World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight and World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion.

According to Arum, Manny Pacquiao‘s promoter, Mosley is the most likely opponent of the Filipino boxing hero because of his marketability compared with Marquez. Berto is on the tail end of the list of likely opponents of Pacquiao since he is still unknown to boxing fans.

On the eve of his birthday, Pacquiao attended as the guest of honor of the Distinguished Visitors’ Program of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Police Office 12 in GenSan. He then went to Malungon, Sarangani for the opening of a coffee farm that will serve as a livelihood program for his constituents. Pacquiao also signed an agreement between the provincial and municipal governments at the Sarangani Capitol to fight against human trafficking. Finally, he went to a basketball game and handed out 18,000 volumes of books from SM Group of Companies that will be distributed to the local public libraries.

Pacquiao‘s birthday party today is expected to be attended by about 1,500 guests including Bob Arum, Freddie Roach, Juan Manuel Lopez, as well as Manny’s friends in the entertainment business and in politics.
