As noted at LA Weekly on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, The Grove spokesman Bill Reich told them that Manny Pacquiao, who is to be interviewed by “Extra” host Mario Lopez this Wednesday, is not welcome on their place, which means that the said interview will not push through.

“Based on news reports of statements made by Mr. Pacquiao we have made it be known that he is not welcome at The Grove and will not be interviewed here now or in the future. The Grove is a gathering place for all Angelenos and not a place for intolerance.” The Grove was quoted in a statement.

“Boxer Manny Pacquiao is not welcome @TheGroveLA. @TheGroveLA is a gathering place for all Angelenos, not a place for intolerance.” The Grove (@TheGroveLA) tweeted about four hours ago, before Lopez consistently promoting the interview event via Twitter.

“Tomorrow @3pm my boy @MannyPacquiao will be @TheGroveLA! We’ll talk fights, politics, movies & maybe a little singing.. Come on by! #PacManMario Lopez (@MarioLopezExtra) tweeted earlier, who have also interviewed the eight-division world boxing champion back in 2010.

As reported earlier, Manny Pacquiao was interviewed by National Conservative Examiner’s Granville Ampong in his residence at the Palazzo Complex in Los Angeles, California last week, where he aired his opposition against gay marriage.

“God only expects man and woman to be together and to be legally married, only if they so are in love with each other. It should not be of the same sex so as to adulterate the altar of matrimony, like in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah of Old.” Pacquiao was quoted during the said interview, referring to a Bible verse.

“If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.” Pacquiao added, apparently reciting Leviticus 20:13.

Meanwhile, a post at Manny Pacquiao‘s official website said that the 33-year old boxing champion is only quoting the verses in the Bible, noting that “it is evident that more study on the words and teachings of Christ are required”.
