As noted by Ronnie Nathanielsz at Philboxing.com on Friday, February 17, 2012, defending WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is being set to meet Jeremy Lin of the New York Knicks for the first time.

According to the report, the Pacquiao-Lin meeting will happen on Wednesday next week at Madison Square Garden, the home of the New York Knicks, which recently had its seventh straight win, against Sacramento Kings, where Lin made 13 assists, his career high assists so far.

“(We) will do something for Nike in the morning, shoot some more stuff in the afternoon and then we are taking him to Madison Square Garden for a meet and greet with the new Asian superstar in basketball, Jeremy Lin,” Top Rank promoter Bob Arum was quoted in the report.

In addition, Pacquiao was said to be attending the gala dinner for former heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, who turned 70 last January 17, on Saturday, hosted by Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health.

Pacquiao, 33, who is being set to retire in 2013, will fight against WBO junior welterweight champion American boxer Timothy Bradley (28-0, 12 KOs) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

On the other hand, Jeremy Lin is the newest NBA superstar, whose ‘Linsanity‘ fever is fast spreading that even former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin bought his jersey recently.
