As reported at Wall Street Journal on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, FMQB moved the ranking of Manny Pacquiao’s “Sometimes When We Touch” to their Top 10, which is its first time.

Back in November 2009, singer-composer Dan Hill, who sang the original version of the song, saw Manny Pacquiao singing it live at “Jimmy Kimmel Live” and met with the Filipino boxer later.

“It was like hanging out with Elvis meets Muhammad Ali,” Hill was quoted as saying, as he agreed to record the song again with the eight-division world boxing champion last November.

Pacquiao, who will fight Juan Manuel Marquez for the third time in November, released the single last April, a month before he fought Sugar Shane Mosley, who lost via unanimous decision.

“Even if you’re Katy Perry or Justin Bieber, you have to work radio like crazy,” Hill said on the report, noting that Pacquiao’s promotion on the song was of only one occasional plug.

“He hasn’t been doing interviews or big publicity events. So it’s even more strange that this can be happening. It’s just unheard of.” Hill added.

“The numbers show his song performing well only in more small-to-mid-sized U.S. markets. A single like Pacquiao‘s might play on loop in DeKalb, Illinois, before it earns any airtime in Chicago, FMQB’s Mark LaSpina reportedly said.

“That’s for radio stations to decide. He’s his own self-promoter.” LaSpina added.
