Manny Pacquiao’s coach, Freddie Roach, said Juan Manuel Marquez deserves another rematch because of the controversial victory of Pacman at the MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas last Saturday, November 12, 2011. This was disclosed by international sites, November 13, 2011.

According to reports, Roach said:

Marquez has given us problems three times now. I do think he deserves a rematch first.”

Manny Pacquiao reportedly said that he was also willing to fight Marquez anytime, as well, stating that if they could do the rematch, it might be in May.

Meanwhile, after the event, several boxing enthusiasts and experts agreed with the judges’ decision based on the data of Manny Pacquiao and Manuel Marquez boxing stats.

Apparently, the claim of Marquez that he has been “robbed” allegedly is not true, as the “slo-mo” of the fight clearly showed who have landed more punches. Pacquaio retains his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight crown.

Boxing experts also said that for Marquez to have won, he should have been the aggressor and should have shown more angst, than being just a counter-puncher.

According to stats recorded by the CompuBox, Pacquiao landed 176 punches out of 578, while Marquez landed only 138 out of 436 punches. As for the power shots, Pacquiao landed 117 out of 274, while Marquez landed only 100 out of 254. Pacquiao also connected more jabs than Marquez, landing 59 out of 304, while Marquez landed 38 out of 182.

The CompuBox machine agreed with the judges majority decision in favor of Pacquiao.

Additional reports said that because of the close scores in the fight, Roach conceded that the rematch is something he does not want to do, but something he has to do.
