Manila, Philippines – Motorcycle driving in Manila now ranked on the 7th spot at CNN’s Top 10 insane activities for thrill-seekers, according to CNNGo.com on Tuesday.

“Riding a Harley-Davidson doesn’t usually qualify as an extreme activity. Unless the biker is in congested Manila, where hospitals tallied up 1,662 injuries from motorbike accidents in the first three months of 2010,” the caption said on the entry.

Incidentally, CNN used a post from ABS-CBN back in July 2010 entitled ‘DOH report: Motorcycle most dangerous mode of transport’ as reference, where Department of Health (DOH) issued a report that ‘55.4% of the injured victims of vehicular-related accidents were due to motorcycle riding’.

DOH’s National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS) cited that not using of safety helmets and drunk driving were the most common reasons of motorcycle-riding accidents.
