A man officially changes his name to Captain Awesome, a character in the NBC TV series ‘Chuck, after a US judge approved his petition last month, as published on RegisterGuard.com on Monday.

According to its report, a man who used to have a name of Douglas Allen Smith Jr. is now Captain Awesome, with his first name as Captain and last name Awesome, as approved by Judge Douglas Mitchell from Lane County Circuit Court.

Mr. Awesome, apparently told the news he decided to change his name because he was inspired by a character on the NBC action/drama series ‘Chuck’, Dr. Devon Woodcomb, aka Captain Awesome, played by Ryan McPartlin.

“I just thought it was really funny that Devon’s father always called him Captain Awesome because a poor nickname builds good character”. Awesome told the news.

Meanwhile, Judge Mitchell also approved Awesome’s request to change his signature to a right-pointing arrow, a smiley face and a left-pointing arrow.

Apparently, Captain Awesome’s bank disapproves it and told him it is very easy to be forged.

Mr. Awesome, a former cabinet installer but is now jobless, was born in 1983 and graduated from Willamette High School in 2002.
