Malacañang Officially Declares November 7, 2011 a Regular Holiday via Proclamation No. 276

Manila, Philippines – Malacañang Palace officially declared that November 7, 2011, Monday a regular holiday in the entire country.

As per Official Gazette, President Noynoy Aquino signed Proclamation No. 276 entitled DECLARING MONDAY, 7 NOVEMBER 2011, AS A REGULAR HOLIDAY THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY, IN OBSERVANCE OF EIDUL ADHA (FEAST OF SACRIFICE).

According to the Proclamation No. 276, Republic Act No. 9849 provides that Eidul Adha, one of the two greatest feasts of Islam, shall be celebrated as a regular holiday in the country.

The proclamation further stated that the date of the Eidul Adha festival based on the declaration made by Saudi Arabia’s highest religious body is on November 6, 2011 and the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) recommended that the observance of Eidul Adha be on November 7, 2011 and the Eidul Adha prayer still be held on November 6, 2011.

President Aquino signed Proclamation No. 276 on October 20, 2011 and was published in Official Gazette (www.gov.ph).
