According to ABS-CBN on Thursday night, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued a suspension order for the Eton Residences building construction project, which is located at the corner of Paseo de Roxas and Gallardo streets in Makati City.

DOLE said they issued the suspension order after finding out that 8 health and safety rules were violated, as well as 2 labor rules.

A suspension order was signed by DOLE National Capital Region (NCR) director Raymundo Agravante, and a copy was received this afternoon by the security head of the Eton Residences which was posted on the gate of the construction building.

DOLE told the news that construction workers should still be paid continuously even after the project was suspended.

Earlier reports revealed that the construction workers were installing glass windows when the platform they were standing at on fell apart.

However, recent reports said witnesses said that these 10 workers rode the gondola but the maximum allowable load was said to be from 2 to 3 persons only.

Meanwhile, Eton marketing director and spokesman Erwin de Pedro said they will still wait for their copy of the suspension order before the company would release a statement.

However, Mr. de Pedro said the company will fully coordinate with DOLE and other government institution with regards to the investigation of the case.

On the other hand, Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin ‘Junjun’ Binay vows to help the victims’ families and will push a deeper investigation.
