As noted at international news sites, Madonna went to the 68th Venice Film Festival to promote “W.E.”, and thanked her two ex-husbands and notable film directors.

“They both encouraged me as a director and as a creative person to do what I did, and they were both very supportive.” Madonna was noted on reports, referring to Sean Penn and Guy Ritchie.

Madonna, who was said to have celebrated her 53th birthday last August 16 with her 24-year old boyfriend, remains “flawless” as described by reports as she arrived in black and posed for camera.

Meanwhile, the “Material Girl” singer told reporters that “The King’s Speech” gave movie goers a point of reference for “W.E.” since its story line made a short appearance in the prior film.

Apparently, Madonna also noted that she identifies with Wallis Simpson, whose romantic story with King Edward VII of Britain is being featured in the current film.

“I identified with her in that I think it’s very common when people become celebrities or public figures or icons that we are often reduced to a soundbite.” Madonna was quoted as saying.

Ms. Simpson, whose character in the said film was portrayed by Andrea Riseborough, is an American socialite and divorced twice before marrying King Edward VII in 1936.

Apparently, divorced people in those times are not being allowed to remarry if their ex-spouses were still alive, like in the case of Wallis Simpson, who later became the Duchess of Windsor.
