According to its official website, the Lululemon retail chain is recalling some of its reusable shopping bags known as “shoppers” because they “potentially present disposal issues related to the environment due to the ink lead content.”

The recalled bags are said to be coming from their newest supplier and have been distributed from their stores from approximately the last year.

“We choose our partners carefully and the manufacturer of the shoppers is known for its green practices, and is co-operating fully with our review. While we conduct that review, we believe that from a long-term environmental perspective it is better to stop distributing these bags. Our guests will be provided with shoppers from other manufacturers that do not raise potential environmental concerns,” Lululemon CEO Christine Day said in a statement.

“We are not recalling the shoppers; however, in the spirit of personal responsibility and integrity, Lululemon is announcing today that any of our guests who were given one of the shoppers at issue may return it to any of our stores and be provided with a replacement shopper from another manufacturer,” the official statement said.
