According to ABS-CBN News on Sunday, Luis Manzano revealed during the set of E-Live show that he is now considering the idea of entering politics but noted that he is not yet sure as of this time.

“May mga nag-iimbita po sa akin na tumakbo nga na mayor ng Lipa. Ang sa akin, hindi ko po sinasara ang sarili ko sa politika,” Luis Manzano was quoted on the report.

(Actually, there are people inviting me to run for mayor of Lipa City. For me, I am not closing the doors for politics)

“Ang sa akin, kung saka-sakali lang na tatakbo ako bilang mayor, gusto ko po ibigay ang 110 percent ng time ko dahil the moment na hindi ko po yon mabigay, magiging unfair po ako sa mga Lipaeño.” Manzano added.

(For me, if ever I will run for mayor, I would like to give 100 percent of my time, because if I cannot give it to them, I will be unfair to the citizens of Lipa City)

Manzano, 30, admitted that he has been longing to be in public service and noted that it feels different when you help people rather than just pleasing them as an actor.

Apparently, the “Pilipinas Got Talent” host said he has already discussed this matter to his mother, Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto and they had a heart-to-heart talk.

Edu Manzano, Luis‘ father, ran for vice president in May 2010 election. He was the running mate of Gilbert Teodoro, who was the presidential candidate of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD party. Both of them lost.

Meanwhile, the 57-year old local movie icon and current Batangas governor announced that her son can expect full support from her in case he decided to run in 2013.

“Hindi ko naman siya mapipigil, kung gusto ng anak ko I will just support him,” Vilma Santos was quoted in a press conference on Friday in Quezon City, for Bear Brand “Laki sa Gatas” nutrition education advocacy.

(I cannot stop my son from doing what he wants, I will just support him.)

However, the multi-award winning actress told reporters that she reminded her son of the sacrifices particularly the “talent fee” since being an actor pays more than being a politician.
