Louis C.K. video earns $200,000 in just 4 days, sold without copyright restriction

The Louis C.K. video on his two shows at Beacon Theater earned $200,000 in just four days, with the comedian revealing his earnings on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.

According to a statement at LouisCK.net, the 44-year old stand-up comedian revealed the financial success his $5 video show that went on sale worldwide via Paypal on Saturday, December 10.

Louis C.K., who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series in the Primetime Emmy Award, last July for his sitcom “Lucky Louie“, sold his “Louis C.K. Live at the Beacon Theater” video online without any copyright restriction.

“The show went on sale at noon on Saturday, December 10th. 12 hours later, we had over 50,000 purchases and had earned $250,000, breaking even on the cost of production and website.” Louis C.K. wrote at LouisCK.net.

“Minus some money for PayPal charges etc, I have a profit around $200,000 (after taxes $75.58). This is less than I would have been paid by a large company to simply perform the show and let them sell it to you, but they would have charged you about $20 for the video.” Louis C.K. added.

According to the comedian, the Louis C.K. video sold over 110,000 copies as of Tuesday, December 13, for a total of over $500,000, which he directed himself and costs around $170,000 for its production.
