Logar family in central Slovenia has adopted a brown bear (Ursus arctos) cub named Medo that was thought to have been abandoned by his mother, international news reported on June 1, 2011.
Medo, a three-and-a-half-month old male bear cub was said to be wandering around the garden of the Logar family about 30 days ago.
The family decided to adopt the bear cub and had asked permission to prepare a fence for the animal to live in their land in the central Slovenian village of Podvrh. However, veterinary authorities would prefer to move Medo into a shelter for wild animals because Slovenian animal experts said that it is too dangerous for them to keep the animal.
Though the bear cub is cute, cuddly and seems to be harmless, come adulthood and the development of his natural instincts are entirely a different matter, according to Slovenian animal experts in a news report.
Reports said that the custody of Medo is now being battled between the Logar family and the Slovenian animal experts.
