LL Cool J to host 2012 Grammy Awards, first official Grammy host in 7 years

Rapper LL Cool J will be the host of the upcoming 2012 Grammy Awards, which will be on February 12, 2012, live at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and will be its first official host in seven years.

According to a post at Grammys.com on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, two-time Grammy Award winner LL Cool J will be hosting the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, which will be aired at CBS at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

“I’m thrilled to be part of Music’s Biggest Night,” LL Cool J was quoted on the report; who has been hosting the CBS‘s live Grammy nominations concert show every year since 2008.

“I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true. Great performances and great music — it’s gonna be a great night!” The 44 year old rapper added.

LL Cool J, whose real name Todd Smith, will be the following the footsteps of rapper/actress Queen Latifah, who was the last official host of the Grammys, back in 2005, with other Grammy hosts includes Jon Stewart, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O’Donnell.

As reported earlier, Kanye West has 7 Grammy nominations, being the artist with the most number of nominations, which includes Song of the Year, Best Rap Album, and Best Rap Performance.
