As aired at ESPN 2 on Monday night on their live telecast, the said chicken was seen bearing the Blackburn flag as a cape tied to a note that reads “out”, as it appeared out of nowhere during the first half of the football match, which was stopped momentarily.

Later, Blackburn RoversYakubu Aiyegbeni and Wigan Athletic‘s Ali Al Habsi helped each other to catch the so-called ‘Blackburn chicken‘, which was later given to a steward who brought the animal out of the field.

According to sports sites, the chicken was believed to have been sent to interrupt the game as a sign of protest against Venky’s, an Indian poultry company that bought that in late 2010; with Blackburn fans and some sports commentators have been questioning the purchase.

Apparently, the game was won by Wigan (1-0), with Antolin Alcaraz making a goal on the 87th minute causing Blackburn to be relegated to England‘s Premier League in the second division of 2012-13, with the team losing seven times on its eight games.
