It took five innings for team Japan to seal the win during the title game against Tennessee.
Noriatsu Osaka had a triple homer for Japan. Pitcher Kotaro Kiyomiya reportedly struck out eight in four innings and an RBI single.
In a statement translated by an interpreter, Osaka said that his team “had such a great time in Pennsylvania and we really played a good game today. It was kind of a, ‘Thanks’.”
Kiyomiya described Tennessee as Japan‘s “best friends in the US division.”
Tennessee earned the right to face Japan in the US title game after beating California, 24-16.
However, Tennessee had only two hits against Japan. Brock Myers and Lorenzo Butler were the only Tennessee players who were able to deliver solo hits.
Before receiving their World Series championship banner, players of team Japan jogged around for the traditional post-game victory lap while they carry the flag of their home country and the US.
