As noted at E! Online on Monday, April 23, 2012, executive producer Larry Thompson confirmed to them that Lindsay Lohan will play the role of Liz Taylor, who passed away on March 23, 2011 at the age of 79.

“We have wanted Lindsay from day one. She had a lot in her life that was going on. We needed to give her time to take care of her business, and while we negotiated the deal for her we prayed for her—and wonderfully she has behaved. She’s cleared herself and we’re ready to start this movie.” Larry Thompson told E! News in an exclusive interview.

“We truly feel that Lindsay Lohan is perfect for Elizabeth Taylor for our movie…. I think Lindsay—who is very gifted—deserved another chance. We never, of three pages of ‘what if’s’ in the negotiation, there never was ‘what if she can’t act.’ We know she can act.” Thompson added.

“I have always admired and had enormous respect for Elizabeth Taylor. She was not only an incredible actress but an amazing woman as well. I am very honored to have been asked to play this role.” Lohan, 25, was quoted in a statement.

Liz & Dick‘, which said to be released via US cable network Lifetime Television, will feature the highly publicized romance of Elizabeth Taylor with Richard Burton, whom she married twice and divorced twice (March 15, 1964 – June 26, 1974) and (October 10, 1975 – July 29, 1976).

As of this writing, it is not yet known as who will portray the role of Burton, who met Liz Talyor on the set of the 1963 film Cleopatra; and their romance made worldwide headlines that time.
