Ontario, Canada.Energy Minister Chris Bentley confirmed on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 that Ontario will not be imposing an incandescent light bulb ban in 2012 by prohibiting stores from selling them. This was disclosed by Canadian news sites on that same day.

According to reports, the residents of Ontario will have an additional two years before they remove all their incandescent light bulbs. The move was made to match the federal government’s earlier decision to ban all 75 and 100-watt incandescent bulbs by January 2014.

“Did it make sense for us to have a different approach from the federal government on this issue? No. Our thinking is how do we make it easiest for consumers. It would be hard and confusing to do it differently,” Bentley was quoted as saying.
