LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Kevin Durant named NBA Player of the Month for December 2010

NEW YORK — The NBA has officially announced at NBA.com that Miami Heat‘s LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, and Oklahoma City‘s Kevin Durant were selected as December’s Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively.

According to NBA.com statistics, James averaged 25.2 ppg, 7.9 rpg and 6.8 apg, while Wade has averages of 27.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg and 4.1 apg during the games that they played in December. The two Miami superstars anchored the Heat‘s rise to a league-best 15-1 record. The Heat also set a franchise record for total wins and road wins (10) in a span of one month. Wade and James now ranks as second and third, respectively, as scoring leaders in the Eastern Conference.

James has led the Heat in offense by top scoring in seven games. He also led in rebounds per game four times and 13 times in the assists deparment which is now a team record. James has earned two triple-doubles in December.

Wade led the scoring eight times for Miami, and five times in rebounding and three times in assists.

Durant averaged a league-leading 29.4 points for the Thunder in December. Oklahoma City went on to get an 11-5 record to lead the Northwest Division. During the Thunder‘s Christmas Day game, Durant scored a season-high 44 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals to lead the Thunder to victory over the Denver Nuggets, 114-106.

The other nominees for Kia NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month include Dallas Maverick’s Dirk Nowitzki, Golden State Warrior’s Monta Ellis, New York Knick’s Amar’e Stoudemire, Portland Trailblazer’s LaMarcus Aldridge, San Antonio Spurs’ Tony Parker and Utah Jazz’s Deron Williams.
