LeBron James’ 23 Points Sets New Miami Heat Record On Most Points In A Quarter

LeBron James sets a new Miami Heat record when he scored 23 points in the first quarter against the Orlando Magic on Thursday, February 3, 2011. It was also a record-setting first half for James as he hit his first 11 shots of the game and finished the half with 29 points.

James‘ impressive first half, helped the Heat to a 55-45 advantage at halftime against the Magic. He was 9 for 9 from the field in the first quarter and scored all but seven of the Heat’s points of the quarter. James‘ shots were mostly mid-range jumpers but he also made five of six free throws.

Former Miami center Alonzo Mourning previously held the most number of points scored in a quarter for the Heat when he scoring 21 points in a game versus Washington on March 29, 1996.

James‘ previous longest shooting streak was in April 11, 2008 against Chicago when he made his first 10 shots.
