Largest Floating Christmas Tree in the World Lights up in Rio de Janeiro Brazil

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – The lighting ceremony of the biggest floating Christmas Tree in the World located at Rio de Janeiro in Brazil was held on December 5, 2010, according to international reports. The Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held in Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon.

The 85-meter (278-foot) high and weighing 520-ton floating Bradesco Seguros Christmas tree is recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest tree of its kind. The floating Christmas tree is decorated with 2.9 million lights and 1,600 Christmas ornaments, and needed 52 kilometers (32 miles) length of cables to light.

Jose Mayer and Simone held a concert after the lighting ceremony.
