The new Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is expected to be launched by Lamborghini SpA at the Geneva Motor Show on March 1, 2011, according to an earlier report by Bloomberg.

Aventador LP 700-4, reportedly costs over $370,000, is packed with a 700-horsepower V12 engine that enables it to top 100 kilometers (62 miles) per hour in just 2.9 seconds. The Lamborghini Aventador‘s top speed is 350 kilometers per hour. The car weighs about 1,570 kilograms (3,461 lbs.). It is 95 kilograms less than its Volkswagen AG predecessor, Murcielago LP 640, which in turn reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by about 20 percent.

Reports say the Lamborghini hopes that Aventador will help the company regain its luxury market position where cars costs ranges to more than $200,000. The US is considered as the top market for the world’s most expensive cars.

Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy-based Lamborghini targets to manufacture around 100 cars before launching the car publicly on March 1.

Lamborghini was founded in 1963 and acquired by Volkswagen in 1998. The luxury car company aims to manufacture lower weight cars and reduce carbon emissions since emission standards in Europe and the U.S. are now getting tighter.
