As shown in the video below, Lady Gaga played as ‘Mary Magdalene’ while Norman Reedus as ‘Judas’, which was directed by the pop singer herself along with Laurieann Gibson.

“I don’t view the video as a religious statement. I view it as social statement. I view it as a cultural statement. It’s a metaphor.” Lady Gaga told E! Online on Wednesday.

Just like its audio which was leaked online before the the planned schedule, ‘Judas’ music video shared the same experience since it was released before it was shown at American Idol and the longer one at E! News Daily.

Judas, the second song of Lady Gaga‘s forthcoming album ‘Born This Way’ to be released on May 23, attracted criticisms from some religious groups earlier.

Late last month, rumors spread that the ‘Judas’ music video will be released on Easter Sunday and Lady Gaga was attacked by Catholic League President Bill Donohue.

Some critics suggest that the lyrics of ‘Judas’ is offending the Christian belief, with Lady Gaga singing ‘I love you, Judas’.

The ‘Judas’ song was released at iTunes last month along with the cover photo.
