According to a post by online security Sophos on Monday, December 19, 2011, the Lady Gaga Facebook free iPad scam is currently being spread could have already fooled a lot of people.

Sign up and receive your special Lady Gaga edition iPad in time for the Holidays! For contest rules and registration visit the link below.” A statement is allegedly written at Lady Gaga‘s official Facebook page.

The said promotional ad has a title ‘Lady Gaga Edition iPad: Lady Gaga’s Official iPad Giveaway!‘ and anyone who will visit the page will be directed to a link to a Blogspot post, and asking for personal information and fill-up a survey. The said link, however, was already deleted.

Gaga, 25, whose Facebook fans recently reached the 45 million mark and led the overall statistics, was also affected by a scam last August, which allegedly claim that she was found dead in a hotel room, with a link pretending to be a BBC TV News report with a supposed news video.

Last October, just hours after Apple co-founder Steve Jobs passed away, tons of scam Facebook messages stating that they are giving away free iPad 2, iPhones, and MacBook, to honor his loss.

With this, Graham Cluley of Sophos is again reminding the public particularly Facebook users to be extra carefully in visiting links and to verify exaggerating news before believing in them and sharing them.
