As announced by GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) on its official website on Saturday night, the first batch of the 2012 GLAAD Media Awards winners were revealed during a special ceremony in New York.

According to GLAAD, the 23rd annual GLAAD Media Awards was held at the Marriott Marquis Times Square and was hosted by Glee‘s Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera, where 27 of this year’s 35 categories were announced.

As reported earlier, the list of 2012 GLAAD Media Awards nominations was announced last January 19, which consists of 116 nominees in 25 English-language categories and 35 Spanish-language nominees in 10 categories.

For the big names on the music category, Lady Gaga won as ‘Outstanding Music Artist’ for ‘Born This Way‘ album, while Ricky Martin won ‘Spanish-Language Outstanding Music Artist’ for his album ‘Musica + Alma + Sexo‘.

On the other hand, ABC‘s ‘Dancing with the Stars‘, which Season 14 is now going on, won as ‘Outstanding Reality Program’ which was accepted by openly gay DWTS Season 13 contestant Carson Kressley; and beating other reality competition shows including NBC‘s ‘The Voice‘.

Meanwhile, Broadway legend Bernadette Peters and TV star John Stamos presented this year’s Vito Russo Award to film, TV, and theater producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, as openly LGBT media professionals who made a significant difference in promoting gender equality.

The complete list of the 2012 GLAAD Media Awards winners can be found at, while other winners will be awarded in two other events: in Los Angeles this coming April 21, and in San Francisco on June 2, 2012.
