Lady Gaga’s new single “Born This Way” received comments and criticisms from the entertainment world because of its alleged resemblance to Madonna’s classic hit, “Express Yourself”. The controversy started after Lady Gaga posted a link to the song in her Twitter page, as reported by music news sites, Friday, February 11, 2011.

Critics accused her of ripping off the beat and melody of the famous hit of Madonna. Comments came rushing in about the close similarities of the two songs.

One Twitter follower even wrote,

“…You can literally sing the original over this one”.

This accusation is a sure blow to the 24-year old pop singer because she had always tried to be different from the rest of the female artists. She came to prominence because of her bizarre fashion and stage style as a recording artist.

Lady Gaga co-produced the anticipated single with Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow. Whether it is due to the curiosity of the listeners or the song is really a destined hit maker, “Born This Way” made another history as it got the most radio airplays in a single day. Within 24 hours of its release, it made an iTunes record for the fastest selling single.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga is expected to perform Born This Way in the upcoming 53rd Grammy Awards in Staples Center, Los Angeles. The iconic American singer/songwriter is also expected to appear as “Vogue” cover in the magazine’s March Power issue. “Vogue” is known in featuring powerful and influential women like Michelle Obama (2009), Drew Barrymore (2008) and Jennifer Hudson (2007).
