LA Galaxy vs Azkals result: LA Galaxy wins on “The Dream Cup” exhibition game, 6-1

Manila, Philippines – The LA Galaxy vs Azkals exhibition game on Saturday, December 03, 2011, which was dubbed as the “The Dream Cup”, was won by the Galaxy, 6-1.

As shown live at ABS-CBN’s Studio 23 that night, the LA Galaxy, with the world-famous David Beckham, won over the Philippine Azkals on their exhibition game held at the Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila.

Apparently, thousands of Filipinos watched the LA Galaxy vs Azkals not only to support the Philippine football team but also to witness the American football players in action, particularly David Beckham.

The LA Galaxy started with their key players including Omar Gonzales, Sean Franklin, Frankie Hejduk, Chris Birchall, Landon Donovan, Josh Saunders, Robbie Keane, Mike Magee, AJ DelaGarza, Bryan Jordan and vice captain, David Beckham.

On the other hand, the Philippine Azkals, which is being dubbed as the underdog, has its first 11 players, which includes Rob Gier, Anton del Rosario, James Younghusband, Manny Ott, Angel Guirado, Chieffy Caligdong, Chris Greatwich, Ed Sacapano, Jason Sabio, Ray Jonsson, and Phil Younghusband.

For the first half, the LA Galaxy took the lead at 2-1, with David Beckham scoring a wonderful shot during the 20th minute and was followed by Mike Magee in the 38th minute.

Meanwhile, Azkals striker Phil Younghusband escaped from AJ DeLaGarza and made a goal in the 41st minute, for the first score for the local team.

For the second half, the Azkals failed to make a goal while the LA Galaxy scored 4 goals from three of their players, with one of them successfully finished two goals, and winning the friendly game, 6-1.

Robbie Keane made a goal in the 47th minute, while Adam Cristman scored in the 62nd and 87th minute. Greg Belhalter scored on a penalty kick after drawing a foul from the AzkalsAnton del Rosario in the 81st minute.

After the game, David Beckham, who played for 76 minutes, thanked the Filipinos for giving the entire team a warm welcome. He took off his jersey and handed it over to Manny Pacquiao, whom he admitted being a huge fan.
