The incident happened on Tuesday, April 12, 2011; when Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant was called for a technical foul by referee Bennie Adams, and Bryant apparently speaks gay slur.

It was in the middle of the third quarter of the LA Lakers-San Antonio Spurs game on Tuesday night, when Kobe Bryant was caught on video on live TV, stating offensive remarks.

Although the words cannot be heard, many suggests that Bryant said something like, F**king fa**ot”, after he called the attention of referee Bennie Adams but did not respond.

That time, the score is 60-54 with the Lakers leading, as Kobe Bryant approached the bench and seemed to be disappointed with the technical foul called against him by ref Adams.

As watched in the video, a team mate seemed to be consoling him but Bryant smacked him and later throws a towel to the floor, then calls ref Bennie and apparently spoke the homophobia slur.

“You might want to take the camera off him right now for the children watching at home.” TNT analyst Steve Kerr commented, immediately after Kobe Bryant’s mouth appeared to have uttered a suggested foul word.

According to TMZ, Human Rights Campaign group told them that ‘a disgrace for Kobe Bryant to use such horribly offensive and distasteful language, especially when millions of people are watching.”

On a separate post, TMZ noted that Bryant’s action is now being reviewed by NBA officials and that GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination) have also discuss the issue to the Lakers organization.

Nevertheless, the Lakers still managed to win against San Antonio Spurs that night with the score of 102-93, and Kobe Bryant scored 27 points.

Later, Kobe Bryant apologized and immediately released a statement, saying that his words “should not be taken literally” and were “not meant to hurt anyone”.
