Kobe Bryant led the Lakers in beating the San Antonio Spurs with their impressive 99-83 win last Sunday, March 6, 2011, as reported by sports news sites. The Lakers’ shooting guard scored 26 points with seven rebounds and five assists. Paul Gasol followed the lead with 21 points.

With the best play of virtually all Lakers’ players, the team made a good performance in the Spurs’ home court. Even Andrew Bynum who had the least points during the game did not perform that bad after all. He made up for it by getting 8 rebounds in the first 12 minutes of the game. The team showed the NBA fans that they are not yet over in winning big games.

The Lakers’ performance is a big blow for the San Antonio Spurs who are renowned for their exemplary game at home court last season. Despite the combined efforts of Tony Parker who scored 14 points, Manu Ginobili with six points and the performance of Spur guard Gary Neal, they were no match to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The performance of Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers last Sunday was dubbed as “the best game played this season” by sports analysts. It is the seventh straight victory for the team. The message sent is clear, that the Western Conference is still theirs to surrender.

Despite his commendable performance, Kobe Bryant did not show any excitement saying, “Why should I be?” Instead he kept a different perspective about the victory. “We know we’re capable of having games like this and San Antonio knows we’re capable of having games like this”. With the coming games against four of the best NBA teams, the team needs to prepare more to keep their reputation.

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs are still very confident that the game is not over yet. Their firm statement, “We’re not done yet!”is a proof that they will be working out well to remain as the best team this season.
