According to NBA.com, the Los Angeles Lakers hold on to win their six straight games against the Toronto Raptors, 103-108, at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, CA. The Lakers relied on their team defense to thwart the Raptors‘ rally in fourth quarter of the game.

Pau Gasol led the Lakers with a game-high 30 points while Kobe Bryant added 23 points. The win by the Lakers is their sixth straight of the NBA 2010-11 Season and ninth straight against the Raptors at Staples Center. Leandro Barbosa led the way with 17 points including three 3-point shots and two steals in a 12 minute stretch. Five other Raptors scored double figures for Toronto.

The Lakers took a 13-point lead early in the first quarter, but they relaxed a bit that allowed the Raptors to get back in the game. In the second quarter, the Raptors bench carried the load for Toronto and finally took the lead at 58-55 at the end of the first half. At the start of the third, the Lakers and Raptors had several lead changes, but too many Raptors turnovers cost them the game. Toronto committed 21 turnovers against the Los Angeles‘ 12.

Bryant and Gasol set a record for the Lakers team, as they both score at least 20 points in the first six games of a season since Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West did the feat in the 1970-71 season. Bryant finally surpassed West for most field goals made as a Laker, second only to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with only 9019 field goals separating them.

Schedule of Games for the Lakers includes: Sunday vs. Portland TrailBlazers, Tuesday vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, Thursday at Denver Nuggets.

The Raptors will next play on Saturday at Portland Trailblazers , Monday vs. Golden State Warriors, Wednesday vs. Charlotte Bobcats.
