Kim Jong-Il, North Korea‘s leader has died, international news sites reported on Monday, December 19, 2011. He was 69.

According to reports, Kim Jong-Il‘s death was announced on Monday by state television in Pyongyang.

According to the announcer as mentioned on the reports, Kim Jong-Il “had died of physical and mental over-work while on a train trip on his way to give ‘field guidance.'”

A South Korean news report said that Kim probably had a stroke in August 2008 and may have also had pancreatic cancer.

North Korea had begun the process of transferring power to his son Kim Jong-un, reports said.
