Kia Recall 2011: Kia Recalls Optima Sedans Due to Shift Cable Issue

Kia Motors Corp is reportedly recalling more than 70,000 Optima Sedans due to an incorrect installation of a shift cable. The Kia recall was announced by the car manufacturer on Friday, March 11, 2011.

In a notice to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), Kia said that the shift cable problem has caused parked Kia cars to roll away.

Kia has not received any report of injury related to the defective shift cable.

The 2011 Kia recall will cover all Optima car model manufactured from September 2005 to June 2007. The said models were distributed from 2006 to 2008.

A total of 70,115 affected Kia vehicles will be recalled.
