Katie Couric to host ABC daily talk show on September 2012

Former CBS News anchor Katie Couric will host a daily talk show at ABC News starting September 2012, with the title of the show not yet finalized.

As reported at ABC News on Monday, June 6, 2011, ABC News President Ben Sherwood sent an email to ABC News staff, welcoming back Katie Couric.

Anne Sweeney is announcing at this hour that Katie Couric will join the Disney/ABC Television Group to produce and host a syndicated daytime talk show that will debut in the fall of 2012.” Sherwood wrote.

Sherwood also noted Couric’s accomplishments including winning the duPont Award in 2010 for her interview with Sarah Palin and the Peabody Award for her landmark series on colon cancer.

“I’m so excited to join the @ABC family…finally the worst kept secret is out!!” Katie Couric tweeted on Monday, adding a link to announcement of ABC News.

“I’m very happy to be returning to the network where I began my career as a desk assistant in 1979. I can’t wait to be part of this incredibly talented, visionary team.” The 54-year old “Today” host said on the report.

“The show will have smart conversation about a lot of different things.” Couric said about her upcoming talk show, adding that people are interest in intelligent conversation and perspective.

On Tuesday, Hollywood Reporter said that although the talk show has no name yet, Couric publicist Matthew Hiltzik had already purchased two domain names; “TheKatieCouricShow.com” and “KatieTVShow.com“.

Meanwhile, Scott Pelley replaced Katie Couric as CBS News anchor, and has started his new task on Monday night.
