Karl Roy, vocalist of several rock bands since the 1990’s, died on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, according to reports by several local news sites.

Roy is reportedly the grandson of the late Senator Jose J. Roy of Moncanda, Tarlac. He has been a lead vocalist of several rock bands that include Advent Call and Kapatid.

The 43-year-old Roy left Advent Call during its popularity in the late ’90s due to disagreement with band members on the direction of the group’s music.

Reports say that the rock musician’s real cause of death was complications due to pneumonia as he stayed in the hospital due to fluid in his lungs.

Karl Roy‘s death was reportedly announced on Facebook by his sister Kathryn. Below is Kathryn‘s post on her Facebook account.

It is with deepest sadness that I share the news of Karl’s passing. He was called Home today (Tuesday) at 1:01 a.m. Manila time (Tuesday, March 13th), surrounded by those who loved him most – mommy, Keith, Kevin, Krys, his daughter Arianna, and our cousin Jack (Roy-Duavit).

Please continue to pray for Karl. He brought so much joy to others but, unfortunately, did not have enough of it in this life. He’s in a better place now, with Lolo Pepe, Lola Conching and Daddy.Thank you for your kind words and your prayers.

In 2008, Karl Roy was paralyzed after suffering a massive stroke.

Below is a YouTube video of Karl Roy as he was recently given the “Veteran Moves Award” by KONEKTIBAY.
