Min Bahadur Rana Magar, chairman of Khagendra Thapa Magar Foundation, congratulated Junrey Balawing, 18, recently declared as the world’s shortest living man in the world by the Guinness World Records, as reported by several international news sites, June 13, 2011.

Junrey Balawing from the Philippines, who stands at 23.6 inches, barely missed the record for the shortest man in history.

Apparently, the title for the shortest man in history is still held by Gul Mohammed of India, who was 22.5 inches tall and died in 1997.

Nevertheless, Junrey Balawing displaces the world’s former shortest man, Khagendra Thapa Magar from Nepal, who is 26.4 inches tall.

Meanwhile, Min Bahadur Rana Magar expressed his complimentary towards Junrey Balawing’s accomplishment and shared how Khagendra Thapa Magar, formerly the shortest man in the world, made something financially tangible for his parents using his title.

Likewise, Min Bahadur Rana Magar was quoted saying, “Khagendra’s record was a blessing for him and his family. He entertained everyone he met with his dances and quirks.”

Khagendra‘s stint as world’s shortest man saw him travel to more than a dozen countries and make special television appearances in Europe and the United States,” he further add.
