Jon Jones won the UFC 145 main event but failed to knockout Rashad Evans. The MMA main event ended in a unanimous victory by Jones over Evans on Saturday night, April 21, 2012 at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, according to reports by several international sports sites.

With the victory, Jones retained his UFC light heavyweight championship belt, while Evans suffered his first defeat since winning The Ultimate Fighter.

Before the fight, reports say that Jones was the heavy favorite versus Evans.

Earlier reports say that Jones promised to give Evans a memorable knockout during their UFC 145 match.

During a post-fight interview at the octagon ring, Jones explained that he “was a little surprised. I had a goal to finish this fight, and I didn’t.” Jones added that he “felt like my striking was looking a lot more elementary. I just didn’t want to make any mistakes. Who I beat, it was important to me.”

One ringside judge scored all rounds for Jones while the other two gave a round to Evans.
