As reported at entertainment news sites, John Rich was named as “Celebrity Apprentice” winner, beating Marlee Matlin and won $250,000 for his charity, St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Rich, 37, the other half of the country-music duo Big & Rich, beat the 45-year old Hollywood actress, who is deaf and competing for her charity, Starkey Hearing Foundation.

“I’ve never had to go through something like this… You’ve both been amazing,” Trump was quoted as telling to John Rich and Marlee Matlin, noting later that he did not “fire” the latter.

Before Trump announced the winner, the two contestants performed a duet “For the Kids” which Rich sang while Matlin did the sign language.

For the entire season which started last March with 16 contestants, each of them was asked to raise money for their chosen charity through business-oriented tasks within Manhattan.

Apparently, the final challenge was to provide promotional campaigns for 7-Up’s new “Retro” beverage.

Most of the “fired” contestants this season were back for the live finale, except for Richard Hatch, who was sent back to prison several weeks ago due to alleged tax evasion.
