Jockey Jason Gracia in Critical Condition After a Horrible Horse Crash

A collision between two horses happened on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Aqueduct Raceway, causing Jockey Jason Gracia to be in critical condition.

Reports said that Ryan and Jack, Gracia‘s 4 year-old mount stumbled and fell, hurling Gracia to the ground and may have also hit part of the portable rail when he fell. Just as Ryan and Jack got up, October Dreams, a horse coming from behind ran into him and hit Ryan and Jack which fell on his already injured rider, Jason Gracia.

Ryan and Jack was reported to have suffered a fractured skull from the hard hit and was euthanized.

According to New York Racing Association officials, Gracia was unconscious while being removed from the track on a stretcher and only regained his consciousness before he got to the emergency room.

Jason Gracia was currently in the intensive care unit of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Reports said that he is being treated for a concussion and broken rib after being thrown from his horse in Saturday’s race.

Meanwhile, Jockey Jose Bermudez who was involved in the crash was undergoing medical test at North Shore Medical Center after complaining of rib soreness.
