American Idol 2012 first runner-up Jessica Sanchez performed during the 2012 National Memorial Day concert, held in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, May 27, 2012, and sang the American national anthem, as shown in the video below.

As featured during the live telecast at PBS on Sunday night, which started at around 8 p.m. ET, Jessica Sanchez is scheduled to sing two songs during the 2012 National Memorial Day concert, honoring the military service and sacrifice of all American men and women in uniform.

As announced earlier by PBS, Sanchez, 16, who lost the American Idol Season 11 title from Phillip Phillips last Wednesday, May 23, was chosen to sing American national anthem, with Natalie Cole, Trace Adkins, and American Idol Season 5 alumni Chris Daughtry as among other performers that night.

During her performance, Jessica Sanchez wore a blue dress as she belted “The Star-Spangled Banner” and later also set to sing “The Prayer”, a song by Celine Dion which she also sang during the Final Judgment prior the American Idol 2012 Top 25 announcement.

Sanchez, whose grandfather is a retired Navy veteran and his father has served several tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait with the Navy, won the praises from the fans worldwide and the American Idol three judges; and her duet with Jennifer Holiday singing “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going”.
